Description
A row of three cottages, originally five, with a raised revetted pathway in front, dating from the 18th century, with a 20th-century extension to the far left of number 56. The cottages are constructed of limestone rubble, laid in courses. Numbers 56 and 58 have thatched roofs, while number 60 has a roof that is partly thatched and partly limestone slate. The chimneys are of limestone rubble, and number 60 features a rectangular ashlar gable end stack. All cottages are two storeys high, with dormers under thatched hoods, except for number 60, which has 2-light dormers set into the eaves. Number 56 has 2-light 20th-century casement windows on both floors, and a fire window on the lower left. Number 58 has a dormer spanning the front, with late 18th/early 19th-century casements with leaded lights and original window glass. The ground floor of number 58 also contains a late 19th-century casement with glazing bars, and a former fire window on the right. Number 60 has three windows, with 19th-century casements incorporating glazing bars. All windows have wood lintels, and all doors are planked with wood lintels. Numbers 56 and 58 each have a single stone step in front, and number 58 retains strap hinges and an original thumb latch. The interiors feature large stone fireplaces with wood bressumers. Limited interior inspection was possible.
