Description

This is a villa with an attached area balustrade, dating from the 1850s to the 1860s. It is constructed of stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof. The main facade has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, displaying three first-floor windows with a single-storey wing to the left. Most windows are 2/2 sashes. A porch features Doric clasping pilasters and double four-panel doors with a fanlight, set within a tooled surround with a keystone. The detailing includes a frieze, cornice, and blocking course. A stack projects forward to the right. The garden facade (right return) has two first-floor windows. The stucco detailing includes quoins to the angles, a moulded first-floor band, and ground-floor windows with cornices and central segmental pediments on consoles. The first-floor windows have tooled surrounds with ears and shoulders on feet that interrupt a continuous sill band, a frieze, and a dentil cornice. Ground-floor windows are tripartite with 1/1 sashes and blind boxes, while the first floor has 2/2 sashes. The attic has casements. Tall end stacks, the one on the left having a cornice. The interior retains original features, including plasterwork, joinery, and fireplaces. A front room features a marble fireplace with corbel brackets; cornices have an egg-and-dart motif and modillions, embellished ceiling friezes. A staircase has a rod on elongated onion balusters and a wreathed handrail, while the service stairs have stick balusters. Blind boxes are present on the ground floor of the garden facade. The area balustrade to the left of the door has a scrolled lozenge motif.
