Description
Linton House is a villa dating from around 1840. It is constructed of stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof and brick hip stacks featuring cornices. The exterior has five first-floor windows and a central breakforward. Architectural detailing includes paired full-height Doric pilasters at the ends and between the windows. The windows are characterised by tooled architraves with reeded surrounds; the ground-floor windows have a decorated frieze and cornice as well. The first floor windows are tripartite with 6/6 sashes over 2/2 sashes, while the ground-floor windows are largely 1/1 horned sashes, with a 6/6 sash in the centre of the first floor. All windows are set in plain reveals. The central entrance is within a pedimented Ionic porch, featuring paired fluted columns, and leads to a panelled door with an overlight. The right return elevation has three first-floor windows, with 6/6 sashes on the first floor and a central entrance flanked by tripartite 6/6 over 2/2 sashes on the ground floor, all with tooled architraves and cornices to the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
