Description
The main entrance to Thirlestaine Hall consists of a pair of drive piers and gates, along with low quadrant walls topped with railings. This structure dates from around 1855 to 1909. The piers are made of vermiculated ashlar and are square in shape, approximately 2 meters high. They are accompanied by stone rubble coped walls that support iron railings with scroll brackets, as well as gates featuring bars and dogbars. This entrance is an important feature of the streetscape and contributes to the setting of Thirlestaine Hall. It also forms a group with the West Entrance and the boundary wall with corner piers and gates to Thirlestaine Hall, all located on Thirlestaine Road.
