Description
Ravensworth is a villa, dating from the 1840s, originally a single property and later divided into two dwellings. It is constructed of stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof and tall brick stacks. The rear features railings. The main facade has three and then three first-floor windows. The right-hand section is set back, with a breakforward at the end. Stucco detailing includes horizontal rustication to the right part, a continuous moulded sill band to the first floor, and tooled architraves above the first-floor windows – those to the right part also having cornices on raised bases. The ground-floor windows are 6/6 sashes with pediments; the first-floor windows are 6/6 sashes within tooled architraves. A central portico fronts the left part of the building, with arched entrances at each side and an impost band with keystones, leading to panelled doors. The garden facade to the left has 6/6 sashes, three per floor. The rear elevation incorporates 8/8 and 6/6 sashes, and a round-arched staircase window with radial glazing. A tripartite 6/6 window sits between a 2/2 sash and an elliptically-arched recess. The interior, as noted in the 1983 listing description, features a contemporary staircase with cast anthemion railings and ceiling moulding in the hall. A rear area contains lancet railings.
