Description
A pair of semi-detached houses dating from approximately 1820 to 1850. They are constructed of stucco over brick, with a slate roof to the left-hand property (number 103), and a concealed roof to the right (number 101). The party wall is stuccoed, and there are left-end stacks. The exterior features horizontal rustication to the ground floor, a first-floor band topped by end pilaster strips, a continuous frieze and cornice, and a blocking course. The ground-floor windows on the outer elevations are tripartite, with 6/6 sashes flanked by 2/2 sashes. The first-floor windows are mostly 6/6 sashes, with 8/8 sashes on the outer elevations. The recessed entrance to the right has a four-panel door, partly glazed, set within a distyle Doric porch with an architrave, frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The rear of the property retains 6/6 sashes. Number 103 has attic dormers with casement windows, and a single-storey outshut to the left, as well as an attic to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. Originally known as Nos 1 and 2 Southfield Villas, the properties form a group with Park House on Thirlestaine Road.
