Description
Eslington House is a villa built around 1830-1850, with later additions and alterations. It features ashlar stone over brick and has a hipped slate roof with stucco ridge and side stacks. The property includes iron railings.
The house has two storeys and a basement, with three first-floor windows and a two-storey entrance bay that is set back to the left. Architectural details in ashlar include a plinth, tooled eared architraves around the windows (with pediments on the ground floor), a moulded first-floor sill band with raised sills on feet, and a crowning frieze. The eaves are wide, and the windows are primarily 6/6 sashes, with taller sashes on the ground floor and 8/8 sashes in the basement.
The entrance is located on the left side, accessed by a flight of four roll-edged steps leading to a four-panel door with an overlight, framed by Doric pilasters and a frieze. There is a blind upper stage with a decorative gargoyle.
Inside, the house retains original joinery and plasterwork, including panelled shutters on the windows. The railings to the left side of the steps feature a double anthemion and scroll motif with alternate embellished rods.
