Description

A pair of semi-detached villas dating from approximately 1830 to 1850. They are constructed of stucco over brick, with a slate roof and tall stuccoed end stacks, each with an oversailing course. The architectural style is Regency Gothic.

The exterior has two storeys over a basement, featuring four first-floor windows arranged as 1:2:1. Wide, gabled end ranges project forward. Stucco detailing includes quoins to the angles and the raised party wall, a ground-floor band, and a moulded first-floor band surmounted by a balustrade with concentric circles. The ground and first-floor windows are set within roll-moulded surrounds with scroll decoration to the shoulders. The first floor has paired round-arched, single-pane sashes with horns, while the ground floor features similar triple windows in the outer bays. Roll-edged steps lead to the central entrances, which contain three-panel doors with fanlights, all set within tooled architraves. The basement level has triple, single-pane sashes separated by double-chamfered 'mullions'.

The interior retains original joinery and plasterwork. The design is identical to that of numbers 44 and 46, and 48 and 50 Painswick Road.
