Description

Numbers 5 and 6 are a pair of houses dating from the 1840s to the 1860s. They are constructed of stucco over brick, with a concealed roof and a tall brick party wall stack with iron railings. The houses are two storeys high with basements, and feature three windows on the first floor. Architectural details include two-over-two sashed windows with sills on feet, set in plain reveals. Each house has an entrance at the ends, with flights of steps leading to recessed entrances. These entrances are surrounded by round arches with tooled heads on corbels and keystones, containing four-panel doors with sidelights and overlights, themselves within rounded surrounds with moulded heads on corbels and keystones. The interior has not been inspected. Subsidiary features include railings flanking the steps. The facade remains unaltered and concludes a notable group of villas along Montpellier Grove.
