Description
Westwold House is a house built in 1815, set back from the road at the end of a row on Prestbury High Street. The building is constructed of rendered brick that has been painted, with a red tile roof and painted brick stacks. It has a rectangular plan and features a three-storey facade with four windows, which are lit by 12-pane sash windows. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the rear that is not of special interest.
At the front, there is a 20th-century two-storey lean-to porch with a sash window on the upper floor. The original entrance features an early 19th-century six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed. This door has been relocated to the front of the porch and is flanked by pilasters with a moulded cornice above. There are single light windows with horizontal glazing bars on either side of the doorway. The house has a projecting stack at the right gable end and another stack at the left gable end. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Westwold House was built as a boarding school for gentlemen.
