Description
The Thatched Cottage is a detached house, dating to the 17th century, situated on the east side of Deep Street in Prestbury. The house is constructed with square-panelled natural oak timber framing, incorporating some curving bracing and resting on a roughly coursed plinth of squared limestone. The roof is thatched. There are brick stacks, one pebble-dashed, at the left gable end and projecting from the rear gable end. The left gable end features large blocks of coursed and dressed limestone, with painted brick above the eaves. The house has an 'L' shaped plan and is 1½ storeys high, with three dormers in the eaves, two of which have rendered gables and diamond-leaded panes. The ground floor has rectangular, leaded, single and 2-light casement windows, along with a central eyebrow dormer. A 19th-century flush 6-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, is located up three steps, slightly off-centre to the right. The interior was not inspected.
