Description
Bwthyn Maen is a house located at the end of a row, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone and features a slate roof with an ashlar stack that has been restored in brick, along with additional brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by two flat-roofed dormers.
The facade has a flat-chamfered plinth that is continuous with the adjoining Old House. It features two windows, with three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements on the first floor. The ground floor originally had one three-light and one four-light stone-mullioned casement, but these have been altered to include square-sectioned wooden mullions. Both the ground and first floor windows have leaded panes, and the ground floor is fitted with panelled shutters.
The entrance is almost central and consists of a 19th-century flush six-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. At the left gable end, there are two 20th-century raking buttresses, flat coping, and an ashlar stack. Additionally, there are two off-the-ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
