Description

The Edward VII Drinking Fountain, located approximately 20 meters southwest of Montpellier Rotunda in Cheltenham, is a statue and drinking fountain dedicated to King Edward VII, inscribed and dated 'ER 1914. In memory of HM Edward VII the Peacemaker'. It was designed by Ambrose Neale and executed at RL Boulton's Workshops, with the donation made by Mr and Mrs JW Drew. The fountain faces the Promenade and features a marble statue of the King in a Norfolk suit, assisting a poor girl. It has an oval granite base on a moulded capping of a square plinth. The fountain includes lion's head taps for drinking bowls on three sides and a wide horse trough with a dog trough below at the back.
