Description
The drinking fountain is located in a large stone-flagged recess on the west side of North Promenade. It is designed as a hexagonal cast-iron pillar with a stepped top. A small basin is fixed to the front panel, which features a plaque that reads:
THIS FOUNTAIN WAS/ ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE/ THE CORONATION OF/ T. M. KING GEORGE/ AND QUEEN ELIZABETH/ MAY 12TH 1937
On the left and right side panels, there are large basins, and at the base, there are two additional basins for animals. The fountain showcases various Art Deco decorations, including chevrons on the front panel, fluted motifs on the sides, and a wave-patterned top. It is attached to a length of brick walling.
