Description

The King Edward VII Memorial and Drinking Fountain at Balmoral Castle, sculpted by Mr. Taggart from Aberdeen and dated 1911, is made of grey granite ashlar. It features a curved bench with a drinking fountain at the center. The bench has simple scroll armrests and a coped backrest, with the monogram 'ER' and the dates '1901' on the left and '1902' on the right of the fountain. The fountain itself is set in a tall panel at the center, with a segmental, fluted basin, flanked by chained bronze drinking vessels. It has a bull-faced bordered, stepped back plate, inscribed in dedication with a crown carved at the apex. The memorial is located to the south of East Lodge.
