Description

The main entrance to the cemetery, built around 1864 by W.H. Knight, features walls, piers, gates, and railings. The quadrant walls are made of rough-faced ashlar, and there are panels of iron railings with leaf designs at intervals. The entrance includes end piers and a central taller gate pier topped with drum-capping. The iron double gates are elaborately designed, and there is an additional pedestrian gate on the left that leads to the Lodge. The gateway spans approximately 70 meters in length. Notably, W.H. Knight won the competition to design the cemetery in 1862.
