Description
Cemetery Lodge, built around 1864 by W.H. Knight of Cheltenham, is a lodge constructed from rough-faced snecked rubble with a distinctive fish-scale roof. The building features a tall central ridge and rear stacks with cornices, showcasing irregular gabled elevations in the Tudor Gothic style. It is one-and-a-half storeys high, with two south gables that include pointed windows featuring pairs of mullion and transomed lights, topped by carved panels. The west gable boasts a two-storey angled bay with four-centre-arched lights, also with mullions and transoms, and all windows are set under hoodmoulds. There is a lean-to porch at the north-west angle, which has a chamfered, arched doorway leading to a pointed plank door. Additionally, there is a one bay extension to the south-east with a barge-boarded gable and decorative ridge tiles. The interior has not been inspected. The historical note indicates that Knight won the competition for the cemetery in 1862.
