Description

Number 24 is a house dating from around 1810 to 1820, appearing on the Post Office Map of 1820. It is constructed with stucco over brick, featuring a slate roof and tall brick end stacks, the one on the right being renewed.

The exterior has three storeys and three windows to the first floor. The windows are 6/6 sash windows, the taller first-floor windows set in plain reveals with sills. The front door is a six-panel design with an overlight. A cornice sits above, topped by a low parapet.

The interior has not been inspected.

The first-floor window guards feature embellished rods and scroll panels with a lattice frieze. Arrowhead railings are present on the left-hand side. Historically, the house was addressed as Southampton Place on Merrett’s 1834 map. An archway located between numbers 20 and 24, leading to a house at the rear of number 20, is an integral part of the facade.
