Description
House on the River, built around 1820-1830, is shown on Merrett's 1834 map. It has a stucco exterior over brick and a slate roof. The main facade features three storeys and three first-floor windows. All windows have been replaced with late 20th-century multi-pane casements in their original openings, which have plain reveals and sills. The central entrance consists of a six-panel part-glazed door set within a late 20th-century porch. The garden facade, which faces the River Chelt, includes a full-height bow with renewed multi-pane windows. Inside, the house retains some original features, including a narrow open-well staircase with a wreathed handrail and stick balusters.
