Description
The Lodge to Arle Court, built around 1857, was designed by architect JJ Rowland for Thomas Packer Walter Butt. It features coursed hammer-dressed rubble with ashlar quoins and a stone-tile roof with coped verges, which include kneelers with cusped panels. The lodge is in the Tudor style and has an L-shaped plan.
The building is two storeys high with a single gabled bay. There is a single-storey porch at the angle and a single-storey bay to the right. The exterior includes a chamfered plinth and a string course over the ground floor that has carved leaf decoration. The ground floor features a canted bay window with two 1-light mullion and transom windows, and above it, there is a 2-light mullion and transom window. The porch has a 4-centred arch with a plank door. The north and west sides have mullioned windows with leaded casements. Additionally, there are two tall octagonal ridge stacks with cornices and shaped copings on the gable ends, which also have trefoiled kneelers. The interior has not been inspected. All the listed buildings at Arle Court create a cohesive group.
