Stables. c1857. Architect JJ Rowland for Thomas Packer Walter Butt. Stone, with stone slate roof. Classical Flemish style. L-shaped on plan. EXTERIOR: one and a half storeys to centre with 3-stage clock tower to left and 2-storey gabled range to right. Main range has 'screen' with central carriage arch which breaks forward and has central gable on low parapet, between 3-stage clock tower with enriched tracery panels to clock stage and hipped roof with flag staff, and gabled breakforward. Screen has 2 x 4-light mullion and transom windows, gabled range has similar window to ground floor and 2-light mullion window above. Coped gables. Clock by Smith of Derby. INTERIOR: not inspected. Rear of gabled range abuts Wall and gateway from SW corner of Arle Court Stables to Hatherly Lane (qv). All the listed items at Arle Court form a good group.
