Description
The stables and coach house for Number 2 Langton Lodge, now used as a garage, were built around 1806 to 1808 and possibly designed by Thomas Billings. The structure is made of brick with a painted stucco facade and has slate roofs.
The exterior features one and a half storeys on the outer wings and a single storey in the centre, comprising three bays. There are two projecting gabled wings adorned with decorative barge-boards and a first-floor band. The upper stage includes round-arched openings, with a door on the left and a sash window with glazing bars on the right. The ground floor has entrances with coach doors on the left and a four-panel door with an overlight on the right. The stable section in the middle has an elliptically-arched window with glazing bars.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Thomas Billings was known for his work on The Park development in Cheltenham. The rear of the property, which is Number 4, has been significantly rebuilt and is not included in this listing. This building forms a group with Langton Lodge.
