Description
This is a villa and attached railings, dating from approximately 1825 to 1832. The villa is constructed of stucco over brick, with a concealed roof and rear stucco stacks. The attached railings are of iron.
The villa is two storeys with basements, and has three windows on the first floor. Architectural details include end pilasters, a first-floor band, tooled architraves to the ground-floor windows, a crowning frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The windows on the upper floors are original 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes in plain reveals with sills. Basement windows are 8/8 sashes. A flight of seven roll-edged steps leads to a central entrance with a distyle Ionic porch, featuring an architrave, frieze and cornice with a blocking course. The entrance has a three-panel, part-glazed door with pilaster strips, sidelights and an overlight. The right return has three windows, with original 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes and tooled architraves. A conservatory on the left return has 6/6 sashes and a dentil frieze. The interior was not inspected.
The attached iron railings have an X-motif at the sides of the porch, and scroll-motif boot scrapers are also present. Park Place was developed by 1832.
