Description

The boundary wall, formerly part of Moorend Park, dates from around 1784 to 1800 and has undergone significant restorations and rebuilding in the late 19th and late 20th centuries. It is constructed of pinkish-brown and red brick, primarily in English bond, with stone coping and some sections featuring glazed brick coping. The wall stands approximately 3 meters high along the road, with buttresses placed at regular intervals. The southern section, which returns to Moorend Road, is lower at about 1.5 meters and measures roughly 30 meters in length. Overall, the wall creates a long and winding boundary of approximately 130 meters on the west side of Newcourt Road. Notably, on the west side of the wall, near the south wing of Court House, there is an inscribed stone that features early 18th-century dates and the names of local landowners, the Whithorn family. The original extent of the wall runs behind properties numbered 7, 9, 11, 19, and 23 Pine Trees, which are not included in this listing.
