Description
This is a villa, now converted to flats, dating from approximately 1830 to 1860, with later additions and alterations, including an extension to the left. The villa is constructed of stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof and iron balconies, porch, and railings. It has two storeys over a basement, with a facade of one plus three windows on the first floor. Architectural detailing includes quoins, a moulded band at first-floor level, and tooled architraves to the three first-floor windows on the right. The first-floor windows are six-over-six sash windows, while the ground-floor windows are one-over-one sashes, all set in plain reveals with sills. An off-centre right entrance is accessed by a flight of roll-edged steps leading to a six-panel door with an overlight. A hipped roof covers the three-window range on the right. Shutters and shutter boxes are present on the ground-floor windows. The interior was not inspected during the listing process. The ground-floor windows to the right have balconies from the Carron Company, featuring a double-heart-and-anthemion motif. The porch has scroll-and-anthemion motifs to its uprights and hood, and elaborate balustrades and wreathed handrails to the railings alongside the steps.
