Description
This building is a barn located approximately 12 meters north of Home Farm, dating from the early to mid-18th century. The left-hand bay features square-panelled timber framing that is partly clad in weatherboarding and partly in brick, while the rest of the barn is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone. It has a concrete tile roof and a rectangular plan.
The south side of the barn has large double plank doors leading to a round-headed arch at the center, with a smaller double-doored opening on the opposite wall. There are ventilation slits on the sides, which are now blocked with brick, and a double-chamfered ventilation slit in the right gable end. The right gable end also features a double-chamfered owl hole with pigeon holes above it, flat coping, and a weathercock that is not original. Additionally, there are double doors leading to a square-panelled timber-framed extension with a lower roofline at the left gable end.
Inside, the barn consists of five bays with original roof trusses that include collar and tie beams with almost vertical struts, along with double through purlins. Carpenter's marks are visible, and mortice holes suggest that some timbers may have been reused.
