Description

No. 33 St George's Place, which includes No. 2 Jenner Walk, is a terraced house built between 1805 and 1822. It features stucco over brick with a concealed roof and a stucco ridge stack. The property has a wrought-iron porch, window box, and balcony.

The exterior consists of three storeys above a basement, with two first-floor windows. The windows are 6/6 sashes set in plain reveals with sills. The basement has a casement window. The entrance is located to the left, with steps leading up to a six-panel door topped by a fanlight with Gothic glazing bars. A low parapet with copings caps the building.

Inside, the house retains a dogleg staircase with stick balusters, although the rest of the interior was not inspected. The porch features an interlaced oval and scroll motif with a circular design on the uprights, topped by an elliptical first-floor balcony that has a rod and central circle motif. A similar motif is found on the individual first-floor balcony to the right and on Nos 11, 15, 17, 31, and 37 St George's Place.

Historically, the buildings along the west side of St George's Place began construction in 1805. Originally called Stills Lane, this road was the only connection between the High Street and the Royal Well Spa before the Promenade was established. Nos 27, 31, and 33 St George's Place are part of a short spur leading to Cheltenham Chapel in St George's Square. This area is now also known as Jenner Walk, named in memory of the famous Dr Jenner, who lived at No. 22 St George's Place, which has since been demolished.
