Description
The stable, located about 5 meters west of Lake House, dates from the early to mid-18th century. It features square-panelled timber framing set on a plinth of coursed squared and dressed limestone. The stone walling extends up to the eaves level at the left gable end, while the opposite end has been weatherboarded. Originally 'L'-shaped, the stable has been altered to a rectangular plan. There are no openings on the wall facing the street. The left gable end has an early plank pitching door with pigeon holes, which was once accessed by wooden steps, of which only two remain. On the side facing away from Lake Street, there are 20th-century double doors and a stable door to the left. Additionally, there are two 2-light casements, one featuring leaded panes and the other with horizontal glazing bars. The roof is half-hipped at the left gable end. Inside, there are at least two queen post roof trusses with raking struts on either side and a single vertical post extending from the collar beam to the apex. The roof trusses were noted to be in poor condition during a resurvey in April 1986.
