Description

Arle Court House is a house incorporating elements of the earlier Elizabethan Arle Manor, which was dismantled in 1880. The front of the house likely dates to the 17th or early 18th century, with earlier origins, from the 16th century, to the rear, and with later alterations including 19th-century fenestration. The house is constructed of red brick in English bond with a hipped slate roof. A rear extension is partly of ashlar, and the rear right has a stucco stack. An iron porch is present.

The exterior displays three storeys and five first-floor windows, with a single-storey, two-bay extension to the left. The third and fifth openings on the first floor are blocked by cambered arches, and the second floor is similarly blocked with soldier arches. The fifth ground-floor opening is also blind and has a cambered arch. The first bay has two-over-two sash windows, while the others have tripartite windows with one-over-one sashes, all set within eared stucco architraves. The central entrance features a four-panel door with a transom light. The rear extension incorporates two pairs of 16th-century mullion and transom windows with rebated chamfers, a panel between, and an over-string. The left return displays casement windows and a blocked opening under cambered arches. The left extension has two casement windows under elliptical arches and includes a tall internal stack.

The interior retains some earlier fabric, although it has been extensively altered. The porch has a scroll motif to the frieze and a lead roof.
