Description
Incott Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions. It features rendered cob walls and a gable-ended roof made of concrete tiles and slate. The building has an axial granite ashlar stack with a moulded drip course and cap, along with a projecting stone lateral stack at the rear that has a brick shaft. The farmhouse is designed with a 3-room and through-passage plan, where the lower room on the right is heated by the rear lateral stack, and the hall stack backs onto the passage. In the 20th century, the partition between the hall and the inner room was removed, and a small wing was added in front of the inner room. Additionally, a late 18th or 19th-century barn has been built in front of the lower end.
The exterior is two storeys high and features an asymmetrical front with three windows, which are 20th-century two-light small-paned casements. There is a 20th-century glazed door to the right. A long barn projects from the right-hand end, and there is a lower wing in front of the left-hand end. Inside, the lower room has a fireplace with cyma moulded granite jambs and a chamfered wooden lintel that includes run-out stops. The ceiling beam is chamfered and features three shallow steps before the run-out stops. The roof consists of three clean side-pegged jointed crucks with dovetail lap-jointed slightly cambered collars, along with threaded ridge and purlins.
