Description

Farmhouse, dating to approximately the late 18th or early 19th century, although it may incorporate earlier fabric. The walls are of partly rendered rubble and cob, with a gable ended slate roof. It has two gable end stacks; the right-hand stack is brick, while the left-hand stack is of rubble with a brick shaft and projects outwards. The house has a double-depth, integral outshut, which may be a significant remodelling of an earlier building. It features two principal heated rooms at the front, with the right-hand room being larger and containing a central stairhall, and service rooms at the rear. The front façade, dating to circa the mid-19th century, has an asymmetrical three-window arrangement with 16-pane sash windows featuring horns. An early 20th century gabled porch is situated to the left of centre and contains a 19th century six-panelled door, now partially glazed. The integral outshut runs the full length of the house at the rear, with no visible straight joint between the outshut and the front rooms at the gable end. The interior was inaccessible during the survey, but in the right-hand room, an open fireplace with seemingly moulded jambs, likely dating from the 17th century, was visible. The house is also likely to contain late 18th or early 19th century joinery.
