Description
The building is an outbuilding located immediately south-southwest of Coombe Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. It serves as a dairy and wellhouse with a granary above. The structure is made of roughcast rendered cob and features a gable-ended rag slate roof adorned with red clay and block-glazed ridge tiles.
The building has a rectangular plan, with the dairy on the ground floor that includes a well at the left end and a doorway at the front. Access to the granary above is provided by external stone steps located at the left end. There is also a 20th-century lean-to outshut on the right end.
The exterior consists of two storeys. The north front has a doorway on the left with what appears to be a 20th-century plank door, and a small one-light 20th-century metal frame window to the right. The left gable end features an external flight of stone steps leading to a loft doorway, which has a late 19th or 20th-century plank door. At the rear (south), there is a small single-light 20th-century metal frame window. The right (west) end has a 20th-century corrugated iron clad lean-to outshut.
Inside, the ground floor has plastered walls, and the ceiling boards may have replaced a plaster ceiling. The well is located at the left end. The first floor has unplastered walls, with exposed cob that may have originally been plastered. The roof structure is intact and includes one truss with a lapped and pegged collar.
