Description
No 12 High Street is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, likely built in the early 18th century or possibly earlier, and altered in the 20th century. The structure has rendered cob walls and a gable-ended thatched roof, with three brick stacks: one axial and one at each end. The original layout consisted of two cottages, with the left side having one room and the right side having two rooms, both of which were heated. These were converted into a single house, likely in the early 20th century.
The exterior features two storeys and an asymmetrical front with four windows. The left side has a higher roofline and 19th-century horizontal sliding sash windows with four panes. The ground floor window on the right was inserted in the 20th century into what was previously a doorway. The lower right side has 19th-century small-paned casements with two and three lights, along with an early 20th-century two-light casement on the first floor to the right. There is a central 19th-century six-panel door. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features.
