Description
Newland Mill House is a former mill house, likely built around 1814, which was constructed at the same time as the mill and later expanded in the mid-19th century. The building features stone rubble walls and a gable-ended slate roof, supported by three brick stacks—two located at the outer sides of each block and one positioned between them. The original part of the house, probably designed with a two-room layout, is situated at the rear. In the mid to late 19th century, two adjoining wings were added behind the original structure, creating a new front.
The house is two storeys high with an asymmetrical four-window facade consisting of two gabled sections. The right section projects forward and includes a two-storey canted bay window with two and four-pane sash windows. The left section features two 16-pane sashes on each floor, an arched stair window to the right, and a contemporary glazed door below. Above these windows are stone arches. The mill building is attached to the left-hand end of the house. At the rear, the original front still displays its small-paned sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
