Description

BUCKLAND MONACHORUM SX 46 NE 3/42 Shippon and pig-sties - approximately 20 metres to south- west of Venton Farmhouse

GV II

Shippon with attached pig-sties. Rubble walls with gable-ended slate roof. Divided into 2 sections, the left-hand side is a shippon, the right-hand side was possibly a stable. Built on in front of the right-hand side are 2 pig-sties. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical front. Towards centre are 2 doorways with timber lintels. To their right the pig-sties project with feeding hatch on the left end wall. To left of centre is wide doorway with stone arch. Beyond it are 2 slit openings on ground floor and small 1st floor window above. At left-hand gable end is stone framed single light on ground floor.
