Description

MEETH MEETH SS 50 NW 3/192 Barn and attached outbuilding - immediately to south-west of Lower Court GV II Barn and attached cattle shelter or cart/implement shed. Barn is probably late C18, the attached building is C19. Rendered cob walls to barn, rubble wall to the attached building. Plan: barn has threshing floor to right of centre at its left end is a separate section which at one stage was used as a forge. Projecting from its left-hand end is an open-fronted single storey building which may have been either a cattle shelter or a cart/implement shed. Exterior: barn is 1 storey with loft over left-hand end. Asymmetrical front with cart entrance to right of centre which has flanking buttresses. Original wood-framed slit opening to its left. Narrower door towards left-hand end with enlarged loading hatch above. 1 storey open-fronted 4-bay building divided by wooden posts projects from left-nand end of barn. Interior of barn has late C19 King post and raking strut roof. Rough A-frame roof with lapped curved collars to attached building.
