Description
This small house, located immediately to the east of the Church of St Michael across the A386, likely dates from the 17th century or earlier. It features plastered cob and rubble walls, with a thatched roof that is hipped at the left end and gabled at the right. The building has a brick stack at the right gable end and a rubble lateral stack with a brick shaft at the rear. The layout consists of a three-room plan, although the left-hand room may serve as an integral outbuilding with its own external access. The central room is heated by the rear lateral stack, while the right-hand room is heated by the gable end stack. The exterior is two storeys high, with an asymmetrical front that has three windows. These are 20th-century, two-light small-paned casements, and the first-floor windows are positioned below small gables. There are 20th-century plank doors towards each end of the building. The interior was inaccessible during the survey but may contain interesting features and an early roof structure.
