Description
Brambles is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with renovations made in the 20th century. It has a colourwashed and plastered exterior, topped with a slate roof that is gabled at the left end. The building features one projecting gable end stack, one stack on the ridge, and a slim brick chimney shaft at the right end. The layout appears to be a straightforward three-room design with a through passage, although its relationship to the adjoining property, Homeleigh, is somewhat unclear.
The house is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with five windows. There is a 20th-century front door on the left and another entrance on the right, with modern windows throughout. Inside, the through passage retains exposed joists. The hall is heated by a fireplace located on the wall opposite the passage, featuring a large fireplace with granite jambs and a replaced lintel. The hall also has a large chamfered cross beam. The wall separating the hall from the inner room has been partly dismantled, and the inner room contains a fireplace with a chamfered lintel. The chamfered lintel for the fireplace at the lower end is hidden behind a modern lintel.
