Description
Whitely is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century. It is whitewashed and rendered, topped with a slate roof that is hipped at both ends, and features three rendered brick stacks at the rear. The building has a double depth plan with an off-centre entrance leading into an entrance hall, which has the main stair located at the back. The house has been widened at the rear, and its asymmetrical layout suggests it may have been rebuilt in the 18th century from an earlier structure, although there is little visible evidence of the original building.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with an asymmetrical six-bay front. The porch features Tuscan pilasters and an entablature with a pediment. The ground floor includes a 20th-century window on the left, a blocked window first from the left, and the remaining windows are 12-pane sashes. Above the blocked window, there is an 8-pane sash, while the other first-floor windows are also 12-pane sashes. Inside, there is contemporary joinery that includes doors with six fielded panels and a staircase with turned balusters. Cornices and one 18th-century chimney piece are still present, and the roof trusses are likely from the 18th century.
