Description

This chest tomb, located approximately 4 metres south of the Church of St James in Iddesleigh, is a Grade II listed structure. It was originally an altar stone from the medieval period and was moved to its current location in the mid-19th century. The tomb features sandstone ashlar sides and a granite top that includes a coved cornice and a rectangular recess at the centre. The north side has an arched recess with a central pillar, while the south side contains a 19th-century slate plaque dedicated to Thomas Anstey.
