Description
Swallows Rest is a 17th-century cottage that may incorporate earlier elements. It has rendered cob walls and a thatched roof, which is gabled to the left and hipped to the right. The building features an axial granite ashlar stack with a drip course and an extended shaft. The original layout is unclear, as the house may have been truncated at one end, but it currently appears to consist of two rooms, one of which is heated by the axial stack. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front that has two windows, featuring 20th-century two-light small-paned casements; the left-hand window on the first floor has a metal frame. Access to the door is either at the side or rear, but a lack of access prevented further inspection. The interior may contain early features.
