Description
The well housing at St Nectan's Well is a holy well structure, likely dating back to medieval times, although the well itself is believed to be of pre-Conquest origin. It is built from rubble stone and has a rectangular shape. The plain stone structure features a gabled roof that is corbelled. The gable includes a small square-headed niche, and there is a square-headed opening leading to the well, which does not have a door. This well housing is located by the roadside and is dedicated to St Nectan, an Irish missionary saint from the 6th century.
