Description

The Memorial to Queen Victoria, created by Countess Feodore Gleichen, is located adjacent to No 6 (Fountain Cottage) in Clovelly. It was erected in 1901 and is made of Mansfield stone. The memorial is a rectangular upright structure topped with a hipped capping. It features a relief bust of Queen Victoria along with the inscription "VICTORIA REGIAN IMPERATIX." Below the bust is a shell-shaped drinking bowl, and beneath that is another inscription that reads, "To The Honoured Memory Of A Great Queen This Fountain Was Raised The Year of Our Lord God 1901 by Christine Hamlyn."
