Description

The Queen Victoria statue and drinking fountain, located opposite No 98 on High Street, was created around 1862. The statue depicts the Queen holding a crown and sceptre and was designed by John Thomas. It is sheltered by a shrine-like canopy made by Blandford, which features four crockets, granite pillars, and four supporting angels. Decorative cast iron lamps are positioned at each corner of the structure. The entire monument is set on a base made of sandstone.
