Description
Nos 1 and 3 on Gabriel's Hill are mid-19th century buildings that stand three stories tall and are cement rendered. They feature a wide bracket eaves cornice. No 3 has three sash windows, while No 1 has one triple sash window. The second floor retains its glazing bars, but the other floors do not. There is a modern shopfront present. A plaque on No 3 notes that the Old Bell Inn, where Samuel Pepys stayed in 1669, once existed on this site. The buildings also have four sash windows facing King Street. Additionally, there is a medieval undercroft with ten bays, which includes a blocked stone newel staircase and two ogee-headed niches. Nos 1 to 15 (odd) are part of a group, as well as Nos 2 and 4 on King Street.
