Description

19 High Street is a house, likely built in the 18th century, with a date on the front indicating it was repaired in 1905 by Christine Hamlyn. The exterior features smooth render and whitewash, a modillion eaves cornice, and a gabled slate roof with a clay ridge, along with brick stacks on both sides.

The building is part of a row and has a direct entry into a small lobby. To the right is a narrow kitchen with a rear lateral fireplace, while a larger parlour to the left contains a gable-end fireplace. A narrow staircase rises above the lobby, and the house has a single room depth.

The symmetrical exterior has two storeys with two windows on the first floor, featuring two-light casements with square-paned leaded lights. The central door opening has a 17th-century style nine-panelled studded door, topped with a pent-hood supported by two wooden brackets in an 18th-century style.

Inside, the lobby includes a door to the understair area with a re-used 17th-century door that has baluster upper panels. Both fireplaces are blocked and not visible. The parlour has a chamfered cross-beam, and there is a door at the rear of the parlour leading to an outside yard, which features a 19th-century door. The roof was added in 1905.
