Description
This is a pair of memorials made of slate, dating from the late 19th century, located about 5 meters east of the Church of St James. The northernmost memorial is signed by W. Westaway from Bradworthy. Each memorial features a rectangular headstone in front of a coffin-shaped slate ledger stone, with a smaller rectangular slate at the front of the ledger stone. The two memorials are identical in design. The northern headstone commemorates William Colwill, who died in 1868, and includes a scratch-moulded border, with his initials and date repeated on the ledger and smaller slate. The southern memorial commemorates Grace Colwill, who died in 1864. This design is typical for the area, with a group of similar memorials found at Poundstock in Cornwall.
