Description
Luffincott Barton is a farmhouse built around 1850 for the Tetcott Estate. It is constructed of stone rubble with brick dressings and features a hipped slate roof, with a two-span design at the rear and brick chimneys. The layout is a double depth plan, with the main rooms located on either side of a central entrance hall and service rooms at the back. The larger principal room is on the right side, and there is an additional room at the right end that may have been added later.
The building is two storeys high and has a three-to-one window arrangement on the front, with deep eaves supported by paired timber brackets. The left three bays are nearly symmetrical and feature granite quoins, while the right bay is slightly set back and appears to have been added later based on the roof design. A gabled porch is centrally located within the left-hand three bays, featuring a round-headed outer doorway and a panelled front door topped with a typical Tetcott Estate rectangular fanlight that has diamond glazing bars. The windows have brick jambs and flat brick arches, and they are fitted with 20-pane sash windows. The deep eaves stop at the right side of the main range and do not extend around the service rooms. The interior has not been inspected. Luffincott consists solely of the Barton Farm and Luffincott Church, which is accessible through the farmyard, and the farmhouse adds to the charm of this attractive group.
