Description
61 High Street is a house located in Bideford, dating from the early to mid 19th century, though it may be older. The front is solidly rendered, and it features a slate roof. There is an old red-brick chimney at the left end of the ridge, which is on the party wall with No. 60, and a late 19th or early 20th century red-brick chimney at the right-hand end, built on an older base. The house has two storeys and a three-window range, with the doorway positioned where the right-hand ground-storey window would typically be. The left-hand end has raised quoins, and the openings have raised surrounds, with jambs shaped to resemble masonry quoins and slightly pointed heads. The entrance features a four-panelled door, with a doorstep inlaid with late 19th century coloured patterned tiles. The jambs are chamfered and stopped, and the lintel includes a keystone. The windows are box-framed sashes with margin panes and horns. The interior has not been inspected.
