Description
A pair of houses located on High Street, in Bideford, at the corner where it transitions into Higher Gunstone. Dating from the early to mid-19th century, the houses have rendered frontages and slate roofs with crested red ridge tiles. The west front of No. 51 faces west and has three windows, with a doorway situated between the two left-hand ground-floor windows. The south front of No. 52 faces south and has two windows, with a central ground-floor doorway. The right-hand windows of the west front belong to No. 52. Both houses feature raised quoins on the corner and at the north end of No. 51. The doorways have raised surrounds topped by moulded cornices resting on consoles. No. 51 has a four-panelled door with an iron knocker, and a plain fanlight above. No. 52’s fanlight is inscribed with “DERBY HOUSE” in white letters bordered with red. Each house has a grey stone slab doorstep. The windows are 6-paned sashes. The interior was not inspected.
